Copenhagen Fashion Week for the fall/winter 2024 season, which ended on August 9, confirmed its position as an event that combines luxury with comfort. It interspersed style with inclusivity and modernity with classics. Attracting the attention of fashion lovers from around the world, the shows were a perfect blend of aesthetics and practicality. They perfectly reflected the Scandinavian spirit of balance and sustainability.

Copenhagen Fashion Week A/W 2024 – comfort and style in focus

One of the main themes that ran through the shows was attention to comfort without sacrificing style. Brands such as Skall Studio opted for casual yet elegant silhouettes. The styles reflected the inspiration of New York in the 1960s and 1970s. The overalls, recycled wool coats and wide-leg suits were not only aesthetically pleasing, but also practical. They appealed to modern women who value freedom of movement while not sacrificing a sophisticated look. This Copenhagen Fashion Week show is one of the most exemplary for Scandinavian style.

Creativity and pragmatism in collections

The designers, as always, approached their collections with creativity, but also pragmatism. Henrik Vibskov distinguished himself with his approach to fashion, treating it as a form of therapy in troubled times. His collection, titled “Daily Chewing Gum Therapy Session,” explored various therapeutic forms through fashion. Down coats with embroidered chess pawns, warm knitwear and multi-dimensional jacquard suits were not just artistic expressions. It was a way to protect oneself from everyday chaos. Vibskov proved that fashion can be both expressive and functional.

Sustainability and inclusiveness

Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, reminded attendees of the industry’s social responsibility. Copenhagen has been promoting sustainability for years, and this season the emphasis was particularly evident. The sustainable approach was evident in every collection, from the choice of materials to production. Brands such as Munthe and Stine Goya showcased clothes made from eco-friendly materials that encouraged thoughtful consumption.

Freedom of expression and celebration of diversity

Freedom of expression was another strong theme that prevailed in the shows. Rotate, a brand beloved by celebrities, offered a show full of glamour and sex appeal, presenting mini dresses covered in flowers and crystals, as well as transparent sequined dresses.

The designers, Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimarsdottir, proved once again that fashion can be fun and a celebration of the female figure, without sacrificing comfort. Rotate’s introduction of bridal fashion was a nod to iconic figures such as Elizabeth Taylor, symbolizing luxury and uniqueness every day.

Sustainable and modern fashion

Copenhagen Fashion Week A/W 2024 was a real explosion of creativity, and at the same time a tribute to sustainability and inclusivity. The show showed that fashion does not have to contradict comfort or ecology, but can actually support them. In the spirit of Copenhagen fashion, the future is a balance between luxury and practicality, styling and a sustainable approach to clothing production.
