Jeddah Tower, formerly known as the Kingdom Tower, is a project that aims to transform Jeddah into a modern commercial and cultural center. When completed, planned for 2028, it will become the tallest building in the world, surpassing the current champion, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, by more than 172 meters. The monumental structure will reach an impressive height of 1 kilometer, and its architectural design comes from the renowned Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture studio.
Why Jeddah Tower?
The idea of building Jeddah Tower is related to the desire to create a modern city that will attract investment and tourists. The tower is to be the centerpiece of the “Jeddah Economic City.” The project has a dizzying value of $20 billion. Its main goal is to revitalize Jeddah. The property will not only be for luxury apartments, a Four Seasons hotel and offices, but also the world’s tallest observatory, which will offer a view of the Red Sea. The extraordinary Jeddah Tower property will stand out not only in Saudi Arabia, but also has no equal in the world.
Construction history
Construction of Jeddah Tower began in 2013, but work was halted in 2018 due to internal tensions in the Saudi Arabia, which was triggered by the anti-corruption campaign. Although the tower was already about 33% complete, the work stoppage caused significant delays. Work resumed in 2024, and the structure is expected to be completed by the end of 2028. In the meantime, plans to hire a new main contractor have been implemented, and a contract to continue construction has been signed with Saudi Binladen Group.

Jeddah Tower is expected not only to impress with its height, but also with its modern design. Its aerodynamic shape, inspired by local flowers, is designed to minimize the impact of wind on the structure. Innovative technological solutions are also planned, including an advanced elevator system that is expected to include 59 different cabins.
