It is organized by The Architecture Community, a global platform that promotes innovative projects and creators. It is a competition that attracts the best architects, engineers and designers from around the world. It celebrates bold ideas that redefine contemporary design. The jury consists of industry experts. They evaluate projects in categories ranging from residential architecture to urban planning. They look for originality, harmony with nature, innovative technologies and sustainable approaches.
This is not only a trophy, but also recognition in the industry and a place among the best, alongside such legends as Foster+Partners and Pei Cobb Freed & Partners.
Awarded by Architecture of the Year Awards, the project.
The 2024 Architect of the Year Awards went to the “House on the Moat” project by ARCHIGEUM studio. This unusual combination of history, nature and modern architecture impressed the jury. The house was designed as part of the 19th-century Fort X in Toruń. Therefore, aesthetically, it fits harmoniously into the fortification. Situated next to the moat, almost invisible from the central part of the fort, it combines intimacy with proximity to nature.

The jury appreciated not only the subtle integration of the block into the surroundings, but also the green solutions. A green roof, photovoltaic panels and a closed water cycle have won recognition. The project is also distinguished by simplicity of form, local materials and exceptional attention to the relationship with the environment. The house literally melts into the landscape. It offers residents views of water, wildlife and open spaces. The Moat House combines tradition with innovation and puts people at the center of a harmonious cooperation with nature.
