But did it really bring the fresh breath of Italian style everyone was hoping for?

At first glance, it is clear that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana had a task before them – how to pay tribute not only to Madonna, but also to the essence of Italian beauty. Show opened with models in a glamour style straight out of the Hollywood of the Golden Era. Models strolled down the stairs like heroines of old movies. All eyes were on Madonna herself, who, from hiding behind a black lace veil, closely watched this tribute in her own honor.
The runway was dominated by creations inspired by iconic pop star outfits. There were corsets with the characteristic conical bust, which transported us back to the crazy 80s. Pinstriped suits with long suspenders and lace elements are classics that Madonna brought to the top of fashion, and Dolce & Gabbana made a beautiful bow to her.

There’s no denying that Madonna has shaped our notion of female independence and image for years. She was an influencer before the term even existed. This isn’t the first time Dolce & Gabbana have drawn on her style. And yet the question arises – have they focused too much on her signature styles from “The Girlie Show” and the 1990s? Although, on the other hand, there is no shortage of drabness, flash and leather coats. It’s sometimes modern, but without casual touches. It’s hard to judge whether this is a good thing.

Dolce & Gabbana know exactly how to move the hearts of the public – the reference to Madonna, a symbol of freedom and independence, was a hit. The show was not only a tribute to her style. It was also a reminder of how pop culture shapes fashion. Here we had Old Hollywood on the one hand, and uninhibited feminine power on the other.
Although some critics may accuse the show of being too nostalgic, it’s hard to deny Dolce & Gabbana’s ability to tell a story through fashion. The modern woman in their edition is sensual, strong and confident. Bold and expressive.
