Many countries are on their way to building the world’s tallest building. Currently, Dubai is leading the way. However, there are several other projects climbing into the clouds. Egypt’s Oblisco Capitale is an unusual combination of modernity and tradition in one project. An impressive and visionary concept maintained in the traditional spirit of Egypt. Will the new world’s tallest building, the Oblisco Capitale, be a symbol of Egypt as important as the pyramids? Will it even be able to be built with the difficulties currently gripping Egypt?
New world’s tallest building – Oblisco Capitale.
What sets the world’s new tallest building, the Oblisco Capitale, apart from other massive skyscrapers? First of all, the planned height of this majestic building will surpass even the Burj Khalifa, reaching as much as 1,000 meters. However, it is not only its height that makes it unique. The tower will have a cultural and social character. Rising above the highest peaks, it is conceived in such a way that its appearance will be associated with both the traditions of Egypt and elaborate European-style art deco.
Multifunctionality and architectural inspiration
Oblisco Capitale is a concept announced in 2018 as part of Egypt’s Vision 2030, aiming to become the tallest structure in the world, reaching a height of 1,000 meters. The project is the work of Egypt-based architecture firm IDIA. It includes apartments, hotel suites and various units on the planned 165 floors. The Ministry of Construction and Urban Development and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation are partners in the project, with El Nasr Housing and Development acting as developer.

The project is intended to be a complete and self-contained structure. It includes a business center, a medical city, educational complexes and more. The design draws inspiration from both Pharaonic and art deco traditions. The influence of the time of the pyramids and sphinxes is evident in the reference to ancient Egyptian obelisks. The massing is clearly inspired by architecture from centuries ago. In addition, the art deco style is reflected in features such as intricate ornamentation and floral motifs, including the lotus flower on the facade. There are plenty of innovative features as well. An interesting idea is the rotating blinds on the facade, which adjust to the position of the sun to reduce heat during the day. Moreover, the design symbolically depicts the Nile River through a channel that connects the corners of the earth.
The spirit of modernity in the land of pyramids
Oblisco Capitale represents not only architectural ambitions, but also the spirit of modernity and the aspirations of the country that builds it. These types of buildings are not just structures. – They are manifestations of people’s dreams of achieving something great and extraordinary. Especially in times of crisis in Egypt, its construction takes on symbolic significance. It has the dimension of an almost national success.
Soon, as it rises into the sky, it will become not only a new landmark on the world map, but also a symbol of a future that should never stop dreaming.
