Thermolifting and skin aging

Skin aging is an inevitable process that affects everyone. This process includes both internal (chronological) aging, resulting from the passage of time, and external aging, which is a consequence of exposure to environmental factors such as UV radiation, air pollution and lifestyle. As the skin ages, a number of changes occur in its structure, such as reduced collagen production, loss of elasticity, the appearance of wrinkles, discoloration and other signs of aging.

The answer to these changes are the numerous methods of skin rejuvenation that have gained popularity over the years. One of the most promising and modern methods is thermolifting using infrared. Infrared, thanks to its properties, can penetrate deep into the skin, inducing regenerative effects and stimulating collagen production, leading to a visible improvement in the appearance of the skin in the Aesthetic medicine treatments performed at Ruczaj Clinic in Krakow.

Mechanism of action of thermolifting

Thermolifting used in rejuvenation therapy works on the principle of photobiomodulation, which is the effect of light of a certain wavelength on skin cells. Photobiomodulation is a process in which low-intensity light, including red and near-infrared light, is absorbed by cells, leading to a series of biochemical reactions.

Studies have shown that light absorption by mitochondria – organelles responsible for energy production in cells – leads to increased production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the primary source of energy for cells. Increased ATP production supports regenerative processes in cells, which contributes to the restoration of damaged skin tissue.

Thermolifting It also works at the cellular level, affecting the synthesis of collagen, elastin and other skin structural proteins. Collagen, which is the main structural protein of the skin, is responsible for its firmness and elasticity. As the body ages, collagen production declines, leading to the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin. Infrared thermolifting stimulates fibroblasts – the cells responsible for collagen production – leading to an increase in the amount of collagen in the skin and a visible improvement in its structure.

Application of infrared in cosmetology and aesthetic medicine

Infrared is widely used in cosmetology and aesthetic medicine, especially in treatments aimed at skin rejuvenation. These treatments are non-invasive and can be applied to various areas of the body, including the face, neck, décolleté and hands.

One of the most well-known treatments using infrared is LED light therapy, which involves the use of light at different wavelengths, including infrared, to stimulate skin regeneration. Another popular method used in Ruczaj Clinic in Kraków is thermolifting, which involves heating the deep layers of the skin with infrared, leading to the shrinking of collagen fibers and stimulating the production of new collagen.

An example of the use of this technology in aesthetic medicine and cosmetology can be found in studies that have shown that a series of thermolifting and infrared treatments can lead to significant improvements in skin appearance, reducing wrinkles, improving skin texture and overall rejuvenation. In one study, a patient aged 63 who underwent a series of four treatments on her neck saw a marked smoothing of wrinkles and improvement in skin firmness.

Comparison of thermolifting with other methods of skin rejuvenation

Compared to other methods of skin rejuvenation, thermolifting offers a number of unique advantages. Traditional methods, such as ablative lasers, which work by removing the outer layers of skin, can involve a recovery time that not everyone can afford. Unlike lasers, infrared works on the deeper layers of the skin without affecting the surface, making the procedure safe and minimally invasive.

Another popular treatment is intense pulsed light (IPL), which works on the principle of selective photothermolysis, where light energy is absorbed by chromophores in the skin, leading to the destruction of selected structures. Although IPL is effective in treating hyperpigmentation, erythema and dilated blood vessels, it is less effective in stimulating collagen production compared to infrared and in addition, it is also associated with a healing period.

Overview of clinical trials

There are a growing number of clinical studies confirming the effectiveness of thermolifting in skin rejuvenation. One such study, involving a group of patients of various ages, found significant improvements in skin elasticity and wrinkle reduction after a series of infrared treatments. In this study, participants underwent a series of 10 treatments, carried out once a week. After the treatments, most patients reported a significant improvement in the appearance of their skin, which was also confirmed in clinical studies.

Other studies have shown that thermolifting can be effective not only in skin rejuvenation, but also in treating other dermatological problems, such as acne and androgenetic alopecia. In an acne treatment study, infrared therapy showed a reduction in inflammation and improvement in the appearance of skin in patients with moderate acne.

Advantages and limitations of infrared treatments

Among the most important advantages of thermolift procedures are their non-invasiveness, safety and minimal discomfort for the patient. These procedures do not require a long recovery period, making them an attractive option for those seeking quick and effective methods of skin rejuvenation. In addition, thermolifting technology is well tolerated by most patients, and there is little risk of side effects.

Nevertheless, there are some limitations associated with infrared therapy. First of all, the effectiveness of the treatments may vary depending on the individual characteristics of the patient, such as skin type, age and the degree of aging. In addition, a series of 4-6 treatments may be necessary to achieve optimal results, requiring regular visits to the specialist.

Combination therapies using thermolifting

Infrared technologies in cosmetology and aesthetic medicine are developing rapidly, and their popularity is growing among both aesthetic medicine and cosmetology specialists and patients. To enhance the effects of thermolifting, the specialist Ruczaj Clinic can offer us the treatment in combination with other techniques, such as microneedling or the application of active substances, to achieve even better results in the treatment of more advanced skin problems.

Thermolift treatments represent a modern and innovative approach to skin rejuvenation, offering an effective and safe alternative to more invasive methods. Thanks to its ability to stimulate cell regeneration and collagen production, infrared allows for visible rejuvenating effects with minimal discomfort and without the need for prolonged convalescence.

Non-invasiveness, minimal risk of side effects and the potential for visible results are making thermolifting treatments an increasingly attractive option for those wishing to maintain a youthful appearance for longer. Combining infrared with other methods can lead to even more advanced and effective rejuvenation therapies.

If you are considering an effective skin rejuvenation treatment, schedule a consultation with an aesthetic medicine specialist or cosmetologist at Ruczaj Clinic who will choose the best therapy for you and also establish a home care plan to sustain the effects of the treatments applied: 793116111.
