Brad Pitt appeared in a Mercedes-AMG commercial, but this time he doesn’t play a race car driver. He’s simply an actor who, during the shoot, can’t resist the temptation of another ride. “Too Hard to Resist” is the campaign for the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupé, but it’s also the next chapter in a much bigger story, where Hollywood, Formula 1, and the automotive world are increasingly coming together in one universe.
Brad Pitt has had an exceptionally good reason to be associated with cars in recent years. In 2025, he starred in the leading role in F1, a Hollywood production directed by Joseph Kosinski, created with the support of people connected to Formula 1 and filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends. The film turned out to be a major commercial success. It surpassed $550 million in global box office revenue. For Pitt, it is the highest-grossing film of his career to date.

Mercedes -AMG was present in this story from the very beginning. The brand supported the production of F1, prepared, among other things, a limited AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition” of just 52 units, and ran a global promotional campaign tied to the film’s premiere.
No wonder, then, that when Mercedes-AMG began searching for the face of the next chapter in its history, the choice fell on Pitt. This time, however, the actor is not cast as a driver. He gets to play himself.
Brad Pitt and Mercedes-AMG. An ad that pretends to be a film set
In the “Too Hard to Resist” campaign, Pitt is on the set of a high-budget Hollywood production. Everything follows strict cinematic discipline: cameras, crew, lights, choreography, and meticulously planned shots. The problem begins when the actor gets into the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé.
The car was supposed to be just a part of the set. However, it’s starting to play a much more important role. Pitt wants to drive again. Then again. The film set, which should be perfectly controlled by the director, is gradually losing to the urge to drive the car.
It’s a simple idea, but it makes great use of Pitt himself. Instead of giving him another flashy role, Mercedes-AMG builds the entire story around what the actor truly represents: Hollywood. The campaign doesn’t pretend that Pitt is a professional driver. On the contrary, it takes his cinematic image and turns it into a joke. The actor is on a film set. But in the end, it’s the car that starts dictating the script.
That’s why the slogan “Too Hard to Resist” works on two levels. It’s a promise of the emotions AMG is meant to evoke, but at the same time, it serves as the punchline of the entire commercial. What was supposed to be another controlled shot turns into a spontaneous ride.
From “F1” to AMG
However, Pitt’s collaboration with Mercedes did not begin with this commercial. Back in 2025, the brand introduced the actor as a member of its “World’s Fastest Family.” A spectacular stunt was organized in Las Vegas, where Pitt met George Russell. The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS driver played the role of a valet who, instead of simply parking the car, demonstrated the capabilities of a camouflaged prototype of the future AMG GT 4-Door Coupé.
This was the first piece of a larger puzzle. First, the mysterious prototype and Las Vegas, then the world premiere of the car in Los Angeles, and now a full-fledged global campaign with Pitt. Mercedes-AMG is not building its communication around a single commercial, but is telling the story of the car in stages, consistently linking it with film culture and motorsport.
This is also significant from Pitt’s own perspective. After the success of F1, his presence in the automotive world is no longer just a casting move. The actor has become part of a story in which the car is one of the main protagonists of his public image. Mercedes takes advantage of this context, but does not try to copy it. The new commercial is not another version of F1. It is rather a commentary on that story.
AMG that redefines performance
Behind the Hollywood-style exterior stands a car that represents one of the most significant technological milestones in the history of Mercedes-AMG. The new GT 4-Door Coupé is the first production model to use the AMG.EA architecture developed by AMG, designed specifically for high-performance electric vehicles.
In the top version, the powertrain uses three electric motors with axial flux motors, and the maximum output reaches 860 kW, which is 1169 hp. Mercedes emphasizes not only the power figure itself but also the ability to repeatedly use this performance. The car features an 800-volt battery with directly cooled cylindrical cells, and the manufacturer claims it can recover over 460 kilometers of WLTP range in just ten minutes of charging at 600 kW.
This is important because AMG is entering a territory here that is particularly challenging for the brand. For decades, the character of Mercedes-AMG was shaped by powerful combustion engines, especially V8 units. The new GT 4-Door Coupé is therefore not so much intended to replace the old understanding of performance as to offer a new interpretation of it.
Mercedes tries to convince the audience that electrification does not have to mean abandoning the emotions that have been the foundation of AMG. That’s why the brand’s communication puts such a strong emphasis on instant response, consistent performance, handling, and emotions, rather than focusing solely on the eco-friendly nature of the drivetrain.
The car is more important than the set design
The most interesting aspect of the campaign, however, is that Mercedes does not try to talk about these technologies in a technical way. We don’t see battery presentations or a catalog of specifications. Instead, the brand shows a human reaction to the car.
It’s a subtle difference. In electric car advertisements, it’s often necessary to explain to the audience why the new technology is better than the old one. “Too Hard to Resist” tries to bypass this issue. Instead of asking whether an electric AMG can be exciting, the campaign takes emotions as its starting point.

Pitt doesn’t need any extra reason to get behind the wheel again. In the world of advertising, of course, this is fiction. But that’s precisely why the fiction remains simple and clear: the car is meant to be so engaging that even someone used to movie cars and special effects wants to see what happens around the next corner.
Brad Pitt and Mercedes-AMG: Hollywood as the Language of the Brand
In the case of the new AMG, this is actually quite an apt metaphor. Mercedes is now trying to write a new chapter in its performance history. This time, without the traditional combustion engine as the main protagonist. If the new technology is truly to win over existing AMG enthusiasts, it won’t be enough to simply show impressive numbers. You have to make the driver want to do exactly what Pitt does in the commercial. That is, stay behind the wheel a little longer than the script anticipated.
